Ankle sprain, shin splints, tibialis posterior, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy and calf tears: specialised physiotherapy in Terrassa.

Conditions I treat
Ankle ligament sprain
Injury to the ligaments, especially the lateral ligament complex, from a twist, grade I to III. Progressive rehabilitation and proprioception to return to activity.
What you may notice: Pain and swelling around the ankle after a twist, bruising, difficulty putting weight on the foot and a feeling of insecurity walking on uneven ground.
Foot tendinopathies
Overload of the tendons of the foot (peroneals, tibialis anterior, toe flexors). Ultrasound assessment and progressive loading.
What you may notice: Pain localised along a tendon, which warms up with activity and is worse after resting or when starting to walk.
Shin splints (tibial periostitis)
Overload of the inner shin (medial tibial stress syndrome), typical in runners and with sudden changes in load. We work on loading, strength and technique; if the pain is very localised and persistent, we assess it with your doctor to rule out a stress fracture.
What you may notice: Diffuse pain along the inner shinbone when starting to run; tenderness to pressure; it may persist after effort.
Tibialis posterior tendinopathy
Overload of the tendon that supports the arch of the foot, behind the inner ankle. Ultrasound assessment, EPI and exercise.
What you may notice: Pain and sometimes swelling behind the inner ankle running towards the arch; worse when walking a lot, rising onto tiptoes or running.
Plantar fasciitis and fasciopathy
Overload of the plantar fascia, running from the heel to the toes. We work on loading, foot strength and the arch, with EPI when appropriate.
What you may notice: Heel or sole pain, especially with the first steps in the morning or on standing after sitting; eases as you warm up and worsens with many hours on your feet.
Achilles tendinopathy
Overload of the Achilles tendon, in the mid-portion or at its heel insertion. Ultrasound assessment, EPI and progressive loading.
What you may notice: Pain and stiffness at the back of the heel or a few centimetres above, especially in the morning and when starting to run; the tendon may thicken and be tender to touch.
Calf muscle tear (gastrocnemius and soleus)
Injury to fibres of the gastrocnemius and soleus in the calf. By severity: grade I (overload or minor strain), grade II (partial fibre tear) and grade III (complete tear or avulsion). Ultrasound and progressive rehabilitation.
What you may notice: Sharp calf pain, often a feeling of being «hit» or a snap, difficulty rising onto tiptoes, bruising and swelling.
