Ultrasound-guided EPI (percutaneous electrolysis) in Terrassa

What it involves

Specialised physiotherapy in Terrassa: each plan is tailored to your injury and your situation. First we assess, then we choose the technique.

  • Indicated for chronic tendinopathies and muscle injuries
  • Ultrasound-guided application for maximum safety and precision
  • Stimulates the tissue's natural repair processes
  • Individualised protocols according to the stage of the injury

In plain words

EPI is a technique in which a very fine needle, guided by ultrasound, is placed at the exact point of the injured tendon or muscle. A gentle electrical current passes through the needle and helps the body repair that tissue. The ultrasound lets us see on screen exactly where we are at all times.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

You feel discomfort or pressure for a few seconds. It is tolerable and most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. Some tenderness may remain for a day or two afterwards.

How many sessions do I need?

It depends on the tissue, how long the problem has been there and how each person responds. After the first assessment I give you a specific estimate; usually one session every one or two weeks, combined with exercise.

Can I exercise afterwards?

It depends on the injury. I give you clear guidance on what you can do and what to avoid in the first days, and we increase the load gradually.

Who is it not suitable for?

It is not the best option in every case. During the assessment I check whether anything advises against it, and if it is not the right technique for you I will say so and suggest an alternative.
