Groin nerve pain in Terrassa

Reviewed by Oriol Martínez Picas, registered physiotherapist (Col. 10224) · Updated

Assessment and treatment of neuropathic pain in the groin, often mistaken for pubalgia or muscle problems.

Guided percutaneous needle technique

What it involves

Specialised physiotherapy in Terrassa: each plan is tailored to your injury and your situation. First we assess, then we choose the technique.

  • Differential diagnosis with other causes of groin pain
  • Percutaneous neuromodulation of the affected nerve branches
  • Manual therapy and myofascial work in the area
  • Progressive rehabilitation plan

Common symptoms

  • Burning, electric or tingling pain in the groin, the inner thigh or the genital area.
  • It gets worse with certain movements, long periods of sitting or sport.
  • It can appear after surgery in the area, an overload or with no clear cause.

How we assess it

I take your history and carry out a nerve and muscle examination of the lower back, pelvis, hip and abdomen. With ultrasound I can see the nerves and the tissues around them, to locate where they may be irritated or trapped.

How we treat it

Manual therapy and nerve mobility work, ultrasound-guided percutaneous neuromodulation when indicated, and progressive exercise. The plan is tailored to each patient, and sometimes I work together with your doctor.

When to see a doctor

If there is fever, a lump in the groin, loss of strength, changes in urination or bowel movements, or sudden and very severe pain, see a doctor before starting any treatment.
